DFLP holds rally in Sawahera marking its victory in the town's local elections
June 2, 2005

The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) on Sunday held a massive rally in the eastern Al-Sawahera town in the vicinity of occupied Jerusalem marking the victory scored by its list, "supporters of the democratic reform and change bloc", in the town's local elections conducted earlier this month.

The event was attended by massive crowds of Palestinian populace including leaders of Palestinian factions and Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, director of the holy Aqsa Mosque. Sheikh Hussein addressed the audience and congratulated the bloc on wining those elections.

He voiced optimism that the bloc would spare no effort to contribute in serving the Palestinian people, and touched upon the Israeli dangers engulfing the Aqsa Mosque due to the recurrent threats of desecrating it on the part of the Jewish hardliners.

For his part, Taysir Khaled, the DFLP politburo member, delivered a speech and thanked the town's residents for granting their confidence to his party's list.

The DFLP leader commended those residents for their steadfastness and resoluteness in face of the Israeli arrogance.
