Israeli soldiers fired on Palestinian youth in Ramallah after they were arrested, handcuffed, and blindfolded. This is a violation of international law.
A tape of the incident shows an Israeli soldier shooting rubber coated metal bullets at one of the detained Palestinians from close range. A high ranking Israeli officer was present at the site, according to Najib Abu Ruqia, director of field research at B’Tselem, an Israeli organization working for Palestinian human rights.
B’Tselem is demanding that the Israeli military open an investigation into the shooting. It is further asking whether the high ranking Israeli officer at the scene is conducting his own investigation into the illegal actions of the soldier.
The Israeli human rights organization will distribute the tape in an attempt to halt Israeli attacks on Palestinian rights in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. It also demands accountability within the Israeli military.
B’Tselem has distributed 100 video cameras throughout the West Bank to expose Israeli army and settler attacks.
