Long-term Palestinian detainees at the Israeli Nafha prison in the Negev are drafting an appeal for Palestinian unity, a prisoners' advocacy group said Saturday.
Raafat Hamduna, the director of the Prisoners' Center for studies and research, told, "The center has received a number of suggestions and questions from Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails, which express how worried about the destiny of the Palestinians people the detainees are."
Hamduna said the prisoners believe that the state of division between the West Bank and Gaza strip, and the violence between factions, is "intolerable." The prisoners have also expressed their belief that the upcoming international conference on the Israeli-Palestinian situation, supported by the United States and United Kingdom, will be "at the expense of the Palestinian people" and their interests.
