The Secretary-General of the Palestinian Liberation Front, Omar Shalabi, died on Saturday night, in a hospital in the Gaza Strip, after having a heart attack.
The Palestinian government lauded "the great struggler" who is known as 'Ahmad Abu Halab' and said that he spent his lifetime defending the unchangeable Palestinian principles.
The Palestinian unchangeable principles incorporate the issues of Jerusalem , refugees and borders.
In a statement, the government said, "The deceased was one of the leaders who participated in the national struggle through active contribution to the national institutions, namely, the higher follow-up committee."
The deceased headed the Abu Al-Abbas electoral bloc for the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) in 2006.
The Palestinian Liberation Front was established in 1977 as a Palestinian faction in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
