The Democratic Front calls on the international community for urgent intervention to stop the repression of Palestinian prisoners

The authorities of the Zionist occupation are committing new acts of aggression against our battle-hardened prisoners in an attempt to break their will and resistance.

The last attack in the Negev jail, which occurred in the desert last Monday morning (Oct 22), demonstrates the level of Zionist cruelty and savagery. They murdered Palestinian detainee Mohammad Al-Ashqar and injured 250 others.

The Zionist government is also responsible for the cold-blooded murder of Palestinian martyr Al-Ashqar.

The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) calls on the National Palestinian Authority and the Ministry of Prisoner Affairs to include on their agendas —as fundamental— the blight of prisoners in any negotiations with the Zionist government, and to take the cause of the prisoners to the International Court of Justice so as to force Israel to free them and put an end to their suffering.

The DFLP holds the international community responsible for the lives of more than 11,000 Palestinian prisoners and demands rapid and urgent action in the face of these policies of repression, torture, humiliation and murder that the detainees suffer. The Zionist state must stop the collective arrests, and release the children, women, old men and sick persons and comply with the Fourth Geneva Convention that guarantees prisoners’ dignity.
